Learning for ALL...Whatever it Takes!!!!!!!

"Many things we need can wait. The child cannot. Now is the time his bones are formed, his mind developed. To him we cannot say tomorrow, his name is today."

— Gabriela Mistral

"Education is the single most powerful leverage we have to address the needs of our future."

Kermit Elementary School

Kermit Elementary serves the Pre-K through fifth grade students of Kermit ISD.  Our facility is very nice, now in its fourth year of existence, having opened in 2009.  Fifth and fourth grades are departmentalized with students rotating between content area teachers for instruction while all other grade levels and bilingual classrooms are self-contained, where the students are with the same teacher all day long.  The staff at Kermit Elementary works hard to provide the best education possible for our students, working together as grade levels and to vertically align curriculum between grades. Students also receive instruction in PE and Music.  Technology abounds, providing multiple learning opportunies for all types of learning styles and abilites.

ALL KISD PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSES ARE CERTIFIED

"TEXAS SCHOOL READY"

Kermit ISD's preschool program (formerly located at East Primary) was recognized by the Children's Learning Institute, Thursday, October 23, 2008, in a ceremony at Region 18 Education Service Center as being certified "Texas School Ready."

Texas School Ready!TM is a program that certifies preschool education classrooms that effectively prepared their students for kindergarten.

Lnda McDaniel's Bilingual Pre-Kindergarten program was "Texas School Ready!" certified in 2008.  Our program repeated that accomplishment for 2009, with Shannon Rushing's preschool class!  Asusena Valencia joined them in 2010, and Lina Hernandez in 2011.

Although for the 2012-2013 school year, only Mrs. McDaniel and Mrs. Hernandez are teaching Pre-K, Mrs. Valencia and Mrs. Rushing carry those skills to the Kindergarten level.
