In November of 2006, the voters of Kermit ISD passed a $33 million dollar bond issue for school facilities improvement.  Plans began almost immediately, and ground was broken the following July on the first phase of construction, a new elementary school large enough to house the district's entire elementary population.  Work progressed, and faculty & staff began to move in the summer of 2009.  The two previous elementaries, Purple Sage Elementary and East Primary Elementary were demolished and Phase Two began.  The new Kermit High School was  built next door to the existing High School, on the lot previously occupied by East Primary.  The existing auditorium area will be preseved, and become a free-standing peforming arts center. Keep up with construction progress through the albums on the left.
