August 2006--School Board votes to pursue facility bond issue of $33 million, and to place the issue before voters on the November 2006 ballot. The project includes building a new elementary school to replace Purple Sage Elementary and East Primary Elementary on the current Purple Sage site, and a new High School to be built on the current East Primary/High School site. The project also includes maintenance & upgrades to Kermit Junior High school and Walton Field. Obsolete, unused school buildings will be demolished.

September-October 2006--Voter education about facility needs.

November 9, 2006--Voters pass the bond issue for $33 million. Planning begins.

December 2006- February 2007 Facility committees formed, and help with planning process

July 10, 2007--KISD breaks ground for Kermit Elementary School.

July 11, 2007--Construction crews begin site preparation for the first stage of construction of Kermit Elementary. The Purple Sage track and court area are removed, and dirt work begins.

August 2007--Kermit Elementary--Tree removal, dirt work, more dirt work, and more dirt work

September 4, 2007--Portable locker rooms are installed at Kermit High School to temporarily provide locker room space until new High School can be built.

September 07--Plumbing work and foundation preparation for Kermit Elementary School

September 24, 2007--First concrete is being poured for Kermit Elementary School

September 29, 2007--Foundation walls begin to take shape for Kermit Elementary School 

October 11. 2007--Foundation walls continue to take shape for Kermit Elementary School

November 1, 2007 --First layer general foundation wall complete for Kermit Elementary School.

November 13, 2007--School board reviews plans for new High School and narrows selection to two choices.  Approve plans to begin Fieldhouse upgrade at Walton Field. 

November 15, 2007--Kermit Elementary Construction site has something different happening on every corner.  Workers look like a bunch of busy ants in photos!  Second portable locker room installed at KHS for gym locker rooms due to unsanitary conditions in existing gym locker rooms.

November 21 ,2007--Board reviews High School plans, reject both, and requests another option.

Late November-Early December--Kermit Elementary--Electrical and plumbing work going on.

December 5, 2007--Kermit Elementary--LOTS of concrete being poured. 

December 11, 2007--Back to the drawing board for High School plans!  Board is trying to compromise between building costs and needed facilities. Currently looking at retaining auditorium, and everything else new on existing lot.  Much discussion over whether school should be built on east or west side of lot (East Primary lot or existing High School).

December 13, 2007--Kermit Elementary--Concrete foundation is expanding rapidly!

January 11, 2008--First walls (framework) of Kermit Elementary begin to rise from foundation.

January 15, 2008--Board approves location for new Kermit High School to be built on existing East Primary site with retention of existing audtitorium with new facade and lobby.  Architects begin to fine-tune KHS design.

January 22, 2008--Demolition of old Third Grade Building.

Week of January 25, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Cinderblock walls join metal framework, roof joists raised. 

Week of February 1, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Cinderblock gym walls nearly completed, Section 1 classroom section roof steelwork almost completed

Beginning February 2, 2008--Demolition of old Intermediate School

Week of February 18, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Outside walls begin to join steelwork on classroom section.

End of February, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Second classroom area foundation complete.

March 4, 2008--Steelwork begins on back classroom sections--the building just keeps growing and getting bigger and bigger as more sections are added

March 10, 2008--Kermit Elementary--First classroom section gets a roof

Week of March 17, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Grades 2-5 Classroom section begins to add wall sheathing to steel framework.

Early April, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Grades 2-5 classroom section walls sheathed & insulated, windows added.  Grades PK-1 section roof work, cafetorium block work in back

April 8, 2008--Preliminary plans for High School approved.  Replacement locker room plans at Walton Field reduced in size due to budget.

April 24, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Brick work begun on cafetorium section, PK-1 section wall framework rising

May 12, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Cafetorium brick work completed, gym being bricked.  PK-1 section walls are sheathed & insulated.  Foundation/plumbing work has begun on new locker room at Walton Field for home team.

May 20, 2008--Walton Field--Locker room foundation concrete poured. 

June, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Brick work proceeds to front side.   Interior work in progress. Walton Field--Locker Room framed.

July, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Roofing and Brick work complete.  Interior work progresses. Walton Field--Locker Room walls & roof constructed.

August, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Drywall, painting, wiring, etc. Walton Field--Locker Room interior, Press Box repairs

November, 2008--Kermit High School--Plans finalized.

December, 2008--Kermit Elementary--Cabinet work, flooring, doors, etc.  Walton Field--Locker Room Brickwork complete (one side left open so the building can be expanded.)

January 20, 2009--Kermit High School--Board authorizes DelWare to seek bids. 

March 2009--Kermit Elementary--Tours Offered.  Landscaping, parking lot construction begins. Walton Field Locker Room completed.

April 2009--Kermit High School--Bids opened.  Demolition of Tech Center and East Primary scheduled for July.  Walton Field turf bids sought.

June 2009--Kermit Elementary--Move-In begins.  Contracts  sought for HS construction. Walton Field scheduled for turf by August.

July 2009--Kermit Elementary  prepares for new year.  Demolition begins with Purple Sage Gym, then East Primary Kermit Junior High gets new carpet, new counters, lockers refurbished, paint throughout

August  7, 2009--East Primary is down to foundations.

August 24, 2009 Students arrive as Kermit Elementary begins its first school year. Items (furniture, computers, etc.) still arriving.

September 10, 2009 Fiber optic connection to Kermit Elementary completed.

September 2009--Asbestos removal at Purple Sage.  Site preparation for High School on old East Primary lot

October 2009--More site preparation for High School.  Foundation work begins. Purple Sage being demolished.

November 2009--Plumbing and electrical work at High School site. Purple Sage demolition completed. Landscaping grounds.

December 2009--KHS Foundation work continues, concrete pour begins

January 2010--KHS Steel framework rises on main section, foundation work on back section

February 2010--KHS Steel framework on back section, foundation work on left section

March 2010--KHS Finishing concrete on section 3, wallboard on section one, framework and wallboard on section two

April 2010-KHS Last concrete poured, interior work continues

May 2010--KHS Block work on Gym, interior work & framing  

June/July 2010--KHS--Block and brick work, interior, air conditioner units set

July/August 2010--KES--West Parking Lot and playgrounds are built
