SUMMER 2012 STAFF DEVELOPMENT  (TO EARN COMP DAYS)

The KISD 2012-2013 school calendar has a new feature to us; the calendar has two “comp days.”  Comp days allow an employee to exchange two summer professional development days for two scheduled work days during the school year.  These two comp days allow us to have a full week off for Thanksgiving as requested by so many during calendar development. Kermit ISD will be offering professional development opportunities here in the district.  If the district workshops are not a good fit for you, discuss this with your principal and work-out a plan to attend other workshops/training opportunities. All sessions/workshops must be pre-approved by your campus principal.

If you do not attend the KISD sessions or receive approval for two outside sessions to exchange for your comp days you will be docked for two days of pay. 

To qualify as “summer” professional development, trainings must take place between June 4^th and August 17^th.  Documentation that you have completed two days of approved summer professional development, a minimum of 12 clock hours, must be submitted to your principal by September 4^th.  Acceptable documentation includes, but is not limited to, a certificate of completion.
